JAY COWAN
PRINCIPAL
Certified Business Exit Consultant

Jay Cowan has spent over 30 years working with owners in the corporate insurance market. After watching so many clients and other owners fail to achieve the financial and personal goals when exiting their business, he realized the tremendous lack of exit and transition planning. As a result, Business Owner Exit Strategies was created.

Having started and exited from two successful businesses, Jay knows what it takes to be able to build and transfer the "locked in" value of a business, and how it feels when it doesn't happen -- both from personal as well as professional experience.

Jay has a compelling story as to why he changed EVERYTHING he did for a living, in order to follow his passion. As he says: "If you think it was hard getting INTO business, wait until you try getting OUT."

OUR mission

Business Owner EXIT Strategies, LLC's vision is for every owner of a family or privately-held business to have an exit strategy or transition plan that secures their legacy, purpose, and financial freedom for themselves, their families, and their employees.

Our vision

We believe that small business owners are the economic backbone of every community where they reside, especially for their employees and their families. To that end, Business Owner Exit Strategies, LLC strives to become the “go-to firm” to help owners benefit from the full value of the company they have created, both during and after they have transitioned from their business. We call this “having an exit strategy”.

we help owners:

  1. Understand that the value of their business depends on the exit option they choose.

  2. Offer strategies that increase and preserve that value.

  3. Develop contingencies so the business survives and thrives after owner transition.
